However, I look at my destination, purpose, climate and conditions before those 19 things you mentioned. The rationale is simple; it will help you better answer those 19 concerns before you make your decision to pack and go. Examples may include; the route is too rough and long and my pack is going to be too heavy, or, weather forecasts call for hazardous conditions, or, no water sources along the route, or many other things that may alter your plans. So to sum it up, your trip needs to be planned, well thought out and appropriate gear and safety concerns addressed before departing. Just because you may want to take a particular hike you need to look at it from a planner’s perspective to include experience level of participants.
